In the next edition of what's on in Bristol were showing you what's available for the month of July, with summer in full swing Bristol has a lot of entertainment to offer for all ages across the month of July. From gigs to festivals to outdoor screenings July has plenty to offer if you're in and around Bristol.


Bristol Pride

Bristol Pride Parade

Bristol Pride is an annual celebration of the LGBT+ community. This is Bristol's most colourful community celebration it's open and welcoming to all who champion equality and diversity. There will be an array of events including the Pride Dog Show, Circus Night, Comedy, Film Festival and Theatre.

Pride Day will start with the Parade march in the city centre, which last year saw 12,000 people take to the streets in a colourful, empowering display to showcase visibility for the community and to declare loudly and proudly that hate and prejudice don’t belong in our city. A message more important than ever this year following a 23% increase in LGBT+ hate crime in the region.

Bristol Comedy Garden

Bristol Comedy Garden

he mighty Bristol Comedy Garden returns this July with a prize-winning crop of comedians. Once again the leafy lawns of Queen Square, in the heart of the city, will be transformed into a comedy wonderland complete with outrageously good line-ups in the beautiful Big Top.

St Pauls Carnival

This iconic Bristol event represents the best of African Caribbean culture, as well as the diversity, creativity and vibrancy of its home city.

The first St Pauls Carnival took place in 1968 in the St Pauls neighbourhood of Bristol. The annual African Caribbean carnival has since grown to become one of the city’s greatest cultural events. Enjoy authentic Caribbean fayre including jerk chicken, curry goat, rice and peas, plantain and sugar cane at one of the many street food stalls.

Visit one of the stages where you can experience an array of live acts throughout the day showcasing music genres from dancehall, reggae and soca to dub, calypso and drum and bass.

Feel Good Friday: Tyntesfield run Blow the cobwebs away with a 5k morning run round the Tyntesfield estate, enjoying spectacular scenery along the way. Open to all abilities - no one will be left behind. Led by members of the Nailsea Running Club.

Price includes a cup of tea or filter coffee afterwards in the Cow Barn restaurant. The route can change from week to week but will always be around 5k.

Father and son Andy Holden and Peter Holden take us on an ornithological journey: from the building of nests to the collecting of eggs. Natural Selection showcases several multi-screen films, a selection of archival material, and Andy Holden’s own collection of found nests.

This exhibition brings together Andy and Peter’s personal collections of found objects with sculpted birdsong, a human-scale bower bird nest, exquisite replica eggs crafted from porcelain and two new video works.

This annual free dance, music and arts extravaganza returns to the Harbourside from 19-21 July 2019 for a weekend of family activities, music, circus, food markets and visiting vessels. From Underfall Yard on the western edge of the Floating Harbour all the way to the Cascade Steps, Thekla and Queen Square, the streets will be alive with entertainment.

After having a couple of years off, Firebird Studios are putting on their music festival again this year at the studios to celebrate their 5th birthday and showcase some of the brilliant local bands that rehearse with them.

They'll be putting up a big stage in the car park and they've got great artists lined up including: Mike Dennis, Travis Waltons, Minke Whales, Waldo's Gift, White Parker, Hot Contents, The Publicans & Fake Plastic Chairs. There will be food and drink stalls, local beer from nearby Lost & Grounded, a jamming room, music gear demos, a ukelele workshop and much more taking place on the day.

Woodspring Wings Model Aircraft Club will be holding its popular Annual Model Flying Show, Woodspring 2019, over the weekend of Saturday July 13th and Sunday 14th. Known as the South West's premier model air show, the event will again include continuous displays from 10am to 5pm each day by highly skilled international show pilots, flying single and multi-engine aircraft models depicting aviation throughout the years from early biplanes to modern jet fighters. The show is complemented by static displays and numerous trade marquees and has been well received and enjoyed by many thousands of visitors since the inaugural show in the early 1990's.
