Established by James Henry Leeke in 1897 as an ironmongery business in Tonypandy, the Leekes Retail and Leisure Group has grown and diversified over the last 120 years. It remains a family business by the fourth generation with the group now including 4 large Home Department Stores, 3 Conservatory Studios, a Furniture Store, a builders merchants, a four star Hotel – the Vale Resort, and a 17th Century Grade I listed castle – Hensol Castle.

Newly opened in September 2021, Hensol Castle Distillery is South Wales’ first full-scale gin distillery, visitor centre, gin school and bottling plant. Brewing in the cellars of the Grade 1 listed Hensol Castle, which is a place full of heritage and history, the fun nature of small-batch craft gin creates a truly distinctive experience.
